DOCUMENTARY FILM SERIES PLANNED FOR SAN MIGUEL

Reel Docs: A Documentary Film Series in San Miguel, dedicated to offering a thought provoking, entertaining lineup of documentary films, industry lectures and opportunities to talk with filmmakers about their films, is currently being planned for the community of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Caren Cross, documentary filmmaker of Lost and Found in Mexico and Co-Director of Reel Docs, created this film series as a passion for film. “I would like to bring in filmmakers who’s films may not have had visibility in larger festivals or significant distribution channels to showcase their films to the intriguing community here in San Miguel,” said Cross. “This series will offer San Miguel residents and visitors alike the opportunity to explore diverse documentary films that they may have not had the opportunity to view, while helping to sustain one of our local treasures, La Biblioteca.”

International documentary films will be featured with their filmmakers at La Biblioteca Pública, one of the largest bilingual libraries in Mexico, in an intimate 82-seat theatre. Reel Docs is a non-profit organization. All proceeds will be donated to La Biblioteca Pública de San Miguel de Allende to benefit local scholarships for Mexican children.

Filmmakers are invited to submit materials year-round to be considered for an upcoming series.
