“This is a community like no other I've experienced. A wonderful place for
filmmakers and artists of all kinds.  Magical things happen here!"

Linda Hattendorf, filmmaker of THE CATS OF MIRIKITANI

REEL DOCS: A Documentary Film Series, is dedicated to presenting heartfelt, thought-provoking international documentaries to the community of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. This year-round series  offers San Miguel residents and visitors alike the opportunity to explore diverse documentary films that they may have not had the opportunity to view otherwise.

REEL DOCS features international documentary films with their filmmakers in La Biblioteca Pública, one of the largest bilingual libraries in Mexico, in an intimate 82-seat theatre. San Miguel is famous for our large expatriate and tourist populations, which support the many cultural activities the city has to offer.

If you would like our selection committee to consider your film, please mail a DVD of your film for screening
via regular postal service (no FedEx service, etc. available). Please request a Customs Declaration form at the Post Office and state on the outside of your package: "DVD: For Cultural Purposes Only, No Commercial Value / Para Fines Culturales: Sin Valor Comerical."

We ask that all filmmakers submitting materials be prepared to travel to San Miguel for the public screening of your film and participate in local Q&A sessions, if selected.  REEL DOCS will provide local housing for filmmakers while filmmakers are asked to obtain their own transportation to San Miguel. Selected films
for upcoming series will be grouped around common themes. Therefore, screening dates will be confirmed with
all filmmakers prior to each series.
